It’s important for meeting and event planners to include a variety of program elements into a congress or convention to keep the attention of attendees all day long. Spending time in sessions and on the exhibit floor can sometimes make the days feel long, especially if the convention lasts for several days.

While its not uncommon for many conferences to include a show bookstore, The National Restaurant Association (NRA) each year adds a celebrity book signing to its annual Restaurant Show in Chicago. This is a huge success with the more than 70,000 attendees from 115 countries.

Celebrity Book Signings

Each year the Restaurant Show includes celebrity chefs who are trend-setters in the industry because they are a natural fit for the attendees. Chefs who participate in the celebrity book signings will interact with attendees, providing personalized signatures. Some chefs even participate in the Restaurant Show by providing culinary demonstrations.

Past celebrities who have participated in the celebrity book signing include Mario Batali, Rick Bayless, Cat Cora, Thomas Keller Ellie Krieger, Rick Tramonto, and many more.

The Celebrity Book Signing & NRA Show Bookstore are produced in cooperation with The Book Stall at Chestnut Court, an independent bookstore in the Chicago area.

To be sure, event planners can organize celebrity book signings with authors who relate to the topics and industry’s of any number events. Event planners may wish to reach out to local bookstores to help them incorporate a celebrity book signing for future conferences.
