Wine cellars and caves make fantastic venues for private dinners and other wine events. From Napa Valley Wineries to Rioja Spain, wineries are excellent venues where event planners create many experiences, such as wine tastings, wine making or food and wine pairing classes.
Wine caves are also used to create memorable experiences that can be offered nowhere else. Napa Valley Wineries are popular for group incentives and executive retreats, and Clos Pegase Winery in Calistoga is one winery that offers a unique combination of art – with its famous giant “thumb” called Pouce, by Cesar Baldachini (a French sculptor who produced the work in 1963) – and wine making.
“The Cave Theatre” at Clos Pegase is a dramatic underground chamber that is located just past the aging caves – which makes a spectacular entrance … The Cave Theatre is a 2,800 square foot room that can be setup in theatre or dining configurations for up to 120 guests. The room is also a perfect setting to create your own theatrical dinner experience. For example, bringing performers from nearby San Francisco and hosting your own Phantom of the Opera dinner.
Most wineries will offer packages to include elements for décor, etc., as part of the catering options, but it may also be helpful to seek the services of a local destination management company as well. DMCs often work closely with local wineries and have relationships to bring a range of entertainment ideas to winery estates.
