Employees at small businesses that were forced to cut out the annual holiday party this year may still have a chance to celebrate with their colleagues. For 2008, Kahlua has established a $10,000 bailout grant to be used towards hosting a canceled party.

According to 2008 research from Battalia Winston, about 20% of all businesses will forego hosting their annual holiday parties this year.

To help save these endangered events, Kahlua created KahluaSavestheHolidayParty, a website to allow qualifying employees to make their own pitch for holiday party funds. According to the website, "Kahlúa created this initiative to sustain the community spirit felt within the workplace."

Kahlua will award one grant in each of the following states: Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts and Texas.

According to the site, applications will be judged on creativity of written responses, persuasiveness of need and the embodiment of Kahhua's spirit of exploring curiosity. Participants are encouraged to be creative and let their ingenuity take flight when describing the type of holiday party they would throw with the bailout grant.
